![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() SIM is an scientific art, not an exact science. #Rfactor 2 crash software#Now all things being equal with my sensory input interface, AC to me has the best interpretation of what driving is and become my software of choice to pretend I am driving in my man cave. VR goggles for me make much more difference in getting in immersion, to such extend that any SIM that does not support it as no interest to me, because since VR, the trick does not work for me anymore on a monitor, way back the same happened with using a wheel instead of a game pad. you need to take a leap of faith, the closer the behavior of the pixels you are moving on your screen or in your VR goggles is to what a real car will do, the better, but your mind is still doing the heavy lifting. In my book, SIM and Arcade are both miles away, none of them make you believe you are actually driving. ![]() The less simplistic the calculation, the better, if we are calculating something relevant to what we feel, but we are not dealing in absolute at this stage of our SIM evolution. The mathematical calculation that we are playing with are a digitized simplification of what is happening in the real world and we are missing most of the physical input, so, yes they are simulating how a cars behave and trough the wheel and the visual feedback we are interpreting what the computer program is sending to them, how realistic it is, is much more in our mind than some kind of alternate reality. The better the SIM the easier it is to "believe" the driving is really happening. SIM are attempting to get us closer to what is really happening, Arcade don't even bother, it is all about fun and playing. Until a really superior SIM comes along, one that will reach a threshold and it will be as easy to say yes, this one is closer, as it easy today to say that any of the SIM pre-mentioned are head and shoulder above games like, Forza, Gran Turismo or Pcars.īut for now we have to content our self with what is available and make the best of it.Ĭlick to expand.SIM is an scientific art, not an exact science. When I read someone prefers x or y in RF2, I am not surprised, even if I do not share their opinion, same with R3E or AMS or Iracing, to each his own, Until a simulation that is meter away instead of miles away is available to me, AC with my Fanatec setup, Butt-kicker and Rift is my software of choice to take me to my pretend race career and ultimate collection of cars and exotic tracks and roads. So is AC realistic? To me it is as realistic as they come, Kunos interpretation of reality, to me, is the closest to reality, but I perfectly understand if someone else interpretation of reality suits them better. Some other SIM cars and track feel strange and that, for me, is bad. #Rfactor 2 crash mod#
